(WELLOGATE PLACE, HAWICK)

(TEMPORARY WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 2020

The Scottish Borders Council (Wellogate Place, Hawick) (Temporary Weight Restriction) Order 2020 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.  The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 21 September 2020 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of eighteen months – 24 hour restriction. The Order is required for safety reasons due to the Hawick Flood Protection Scheme works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle exceeding 7.5T MGW along Wellogate Place, Hawick from Wellogate Brae to Elm Grove. Local access will be maintained.

The alternative route for northbound vehicles over 7.5T MGW is via Wellogate Place, Orchard Terrace and Elm Grove to the point of restriction, for southbound vehicles the reverse of the foregoing.
