South Lanarkshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-
This Order may be cited as “South Lanarkshire Council, A726 Glasgow Road, Strathaven, Temporary Road Closure Order No.1 2018” and shall come into operation between 0001 hours Saturday 13 October 2018 to 2359 hours Tuesday 23 October 2018. The restrictions will be applied on site by the display of traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002.
Whilst this order remains in force no person shall park, drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on the sections of road specified in Schedule 1 by reason of road surfacing works; and Schedule 2 by reason of installation of sewers associated with the East Overton Housing Development.
Schedule 1 – A726 Glasgow Road, Strathaven 13 October 2018 to 21 October 2018 (road surfacing works)
A726 Glasgow Road will be closed between Coldstream Highway and No 134 Glasgow Road. Access to Overton Avenue will be maintained at all times from one direction.
Alternative Route
Traffic will be diverted via A723 to Hamilton, A72/A724 to Burnbank, High Blantyre Road, Main Street, A725 East Kilbride Expressway/Kingsway, A726 to Strathaven and vice versa.
Schedule 2 – A726 Glasgow Road, Strathaven 22 October 2018 to 23 October 2018 (installation of sewers associated with East Overton housing development)
A726 Glasgow Road will be closed between Avondale Street and Woodhill Road. This will only be implemented after Schedule 1 is completed.
Alternative Route
Traffic will be diverted via A723 to Hamilton, A72/A724 to Burnbank, High Blantyre Road, Main Street, A725 East Kilbride Expressway/Kingsway, A726 to Strathaven and vice versa.
