(LEADERFOOT, MELROSE & CAR PARKS, GALASHIELS)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER 2024

The Scottish Borders Council are making the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16B(1)(b) and Section 16B(6)(b) of the said Act. The Order, which has a maximum duration of nineteen days, will come into force at 06:00 on 29 April 2024 and is expected to remain in effect until 19:00 on 17 May 2024 as detailed below. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of a special event at Leaderfoot, Melrose.

1. When the Order comes into effect no person shall (i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle; (ii) walk, cycle or wheel; and (iii) ride, lead or drive any animal, along the B6361 and B6360 at Leaderfoot as follows:

  1. the B6361 Leaderfoot slip road from the A68 to Drygrange Bridge from 06:00 on 29 April to 19:00 on 17 May 2024. There is no alternative route;

  2. the B6361 Old Melrose Road from Drygrange Bridge to the boundary of the Borders Health Board property from 06:00 on 29 April to 19:00 on 17 May 2024. There is no alternative route;

  3. the B6361 Drygrange Bridge footpath from the B6361 Leaderfoot slip road to the B6360. There is no alternative route from 06:00 on 29 April to 19:00 on 17 May 2024; and

  4. the B6360 from its junction with the C78 westwards for 1 kilometre from 06:00 on 8 May to 19:30 on 11 May 2024. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B6360, B6374, B6360, A6091, A68 and B6360 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic, the reverse of the foregoing.

2. When the Order comes into effect no person shall (i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle, and (ii) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked, in the following car parks in Galashiels from 06:00 on 6 May 2024 to 18:00 on 12 May 2024 to allow the above event to take place:

  1. Netherdale Car Park; and

  2. Currie Road Car Park.
