(C24 BILLHOPE BRIDGE)

(TEMPORARY WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 2019

The Scottish Borders Council (C24 Billhope Bridge) (Temporary Weight Restriction) Order 2019 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.  The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 30 December 2019 and is expected to remain in effect until 30 June 2021 – 24 hour restriction. The Order is required due to the structural capacity of the Bridge.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle exceeding 7.5 T MGW along the C24 Hermitage to the Dumfries and Galloway boundary road at Billhope Bridge near Hermitage.

The alternative eastbound route for traffic over 7.5T MGW is via the C24, B6399, A7 and C24 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.
