THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

 

THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL

(VARIOUS STREETS, PEEBLES) (REGULATION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2000

(AMENDMENT No. 5) ORDER 201X

 

 

The Scottish Borders Council propose to make the above Order in exercise of the powers conferred on them under Sections 1 and 2 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and by Section 19 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999. The Order will come into operation on                     201X.

The effect of the Order will be to amend no waiting at any time and no loading at any time in a length of Eastgate, to amend no waiting at any time in lengths of Rosetta Road, Innerleithen Road, Crossland Crescent and Eastgate and to introduce no waiting at any time in lengths of Kingsland Square, Rose Park, George Street, Gladstone Place, St Andrew’s Road, Cross Street, St Michael’s Bank, Kingsmeadows Road, Springhill Road, Edderston Road, The Meadows, Kingsway, Glensax Road, Whitehaugh Avenue and Dalatho Crescent, to amend no waiting 8.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday in a length of Rosetta Road and Innerleithen Road and to introduce no waiting 8.30am to 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday in a length of Innerleithen Road, to amend waiting limited to 45 mins, Monday to Saturday 8.30am to 6.00pm, return prohibited within 75 mins in lengths of Eastgate, to amend no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading in lengths of Eastgate except for taxis licensed by the Scottish Borders Council as Licensing Authority and to introduce no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading in a length of Innerleithen Road except for taxis licensed by the Scottish Borders Council as Licensing Authority, to revoke no stopping, waiting, loading or unloading between 6.00pm Friday to 8.30am Monday in a length of Innerleithen Road except for taxis licensed by the Scottish Borders Council as Licensing Authority and to introduce loading only permitted 8.30am to 6.00pm Monday to Saturday in a length of Eastgate.

Full details of these proposals are in the draft Order which, together with maps showing the affected lengths of road, a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order and the prior Orders to be amended may be examined at Road Safety and Traffic Management, Assets and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 8:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and on Fridays between 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. and also at Peebles Contact Centre, High Street, Peebles, EH45 8AF during normal working hours. Any person wishing to obtain technical advice on the provisions of the Order should telephone Road Safety and Traffic Management on 01835 826642.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds of objection in writing to the Service Director Regulatory Services, Scottish Borders Council, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA by 8 June 2018.
