THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL

(BORDERS BOOK FESTIVAL)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2017

 

The Scottish Borders Council have made the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16B(1)(b) and Section 16B(6)(b) of the said Act. The Order, which has a maximum duration of six days, will come into force at 08:00 on 14 June 2017 and is expected to remain in effect until 12:00 on 19 June 2017. The order is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the Borders Book Festival 2017.

When the Order comes into effect:

  1. no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along that length of St Mary’s Road, Melrose from its junction with the access road to Weirhill Church to Abbey Street between the hours of 08:00 on 14 June 2017 to 12:00 on 19 June 2017. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via High Street, Buccleuch Street and Abbey Street to the point of closure, for westbound traffic via Annay Road, Dean Road, High Road, East Port, Market Square and High Street to the point of closure;

  2. One Way Orders will be in force on the following roads between the hours of 08:00 on 15 June 2017 to 08:00 on 19 June 2017:

    1. Abbey Street, Melrose from Buccleuch Street to St Mary’s Road in a northerly direction – no person shall drive in a southerly direction;

    2. Annay Road, Melrose from Abbey Street to Dean Road, Newstead in an easterly direction – no person shall drive in a westerly direction;

  3. no person shall permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked along both sides of the following streets between the hours 08:00 on 15 June 2017 and 08:00 on 19 June 2017:

    1. Abbey Street, Melrose from Buccleuch Street to St Mary’s Road;

    2. Annay Road, Melrose from Abbey Street to Dean Road, Newstead.
