The Renfrewshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby gives notice that to accommodate social distancing at Lang Avenue at its junction with Ailsa Avenue at the entrance to Newmains Primary School, where there is a requirement to achieve social distancing on the footway which cannot currently be achieved due to vehicular traffic.
Road space to be temporarily reallocated from the existing carriageway provision to allow pedestrian and cycle drop off and collection by parents and carers while achieving social distancing and provision of drop off and pick up location for those pupils who travel by school bus on Broadloan. As such no vehicle shall wait, load or unload or cause or permit any vehicle (except where indicated by signs and road markings) to wait or load on the following lengths of road in the Town of Renfrew in the Unitary Authority of Renfrewshire:
Lang Avenue, Sandy Road and Broadloan, Renfrew.
Reason for Restrictions: To enable full use of the road width to allow for access and egress while enabling for social distancing by prohibiting passage of vehicles across a short section of Lang Avenue, prohibiting vehicles from obscuring the junction with Sandy Road and providing a safe walking route for children being dropped by the school bus on Broadloan.
Vehicles left on the road in contravention of this Notice will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.
Alternative Routes
From Sandy Road, left onto Newmains Road then Left onto Lang Avenue and Visa Versa.
This order will be in force from Wednesday 14th October 2020 till Tuesday, 15th March 2022.
This notice will only be effective when so displayed by signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016.
