On 24 December 2018 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on gas main replacement works) on Avon Street, Motherwell from the extended north kerbline of the B754 Airbles Road, northwards for a distance of 40 metres or thereby by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the south side of the closure wishing to access the north side of the closure should proceed westwards on B754, Airbles Road, north-eastwards on the A723, Hamilton Road and southwards on Avon Street to the north side of the closure.

Vehicles on the north side of the closure wishing to access the south side of the closure should proceed vice versa. 

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

The closure and restrictions will only be valid when the appropriate signing is in place.

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 7 January 2019 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Monday, 11 February 2019.
