On 7 January 2019 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on Tree Felling Operations) on the following roads by reason of works being executed on or near those locations.

 

Phase 1

A71 Horsley Brae from the extended line of the southern kerb of B7011 Brownlee Road to a point 10 metres or thereby north of the access to Garrion Bridges Garden and Antique Centre.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the north east side of the closure wishing to travel to the south west side of the closure should proceed north eastwards on A71 Horsley Brae, north westwards on A754 Castlehill Road, north westwards on B754 Netherton Road, B754 Shields Road and A721 Windmillhill Street, westwards on B754 Airbles Road, south westwards on A723 Motherwell Road and A723 Blackwells Lane, south eastwards on A72 Townhead Street, south eastwards on A72 Carlisle Road, A72 Lanark Road, A71 Cornsilloch Brae and north eastwards on A71 Garrion Bridge to the south west side of the closure.

Vehicles the south west side of the closure wishing to travel to the north east side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Access to Garrion Bridges Garden Centre shall be from the south west side of the closure.

Local bus services may be affected.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

 

Phase 2

A71 Horsley Brae from the extended line of the northern kerb of B7011 Brownlee Road northwards for a distance of 950 metres or thereby.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the south west side of the closure wishing to travel to the north east side of the closure should travel north eastwards on B7011 Brownlee Road, B7011 Station Road and B7011 Wildman Road, north westwards on A73, westwards on A721 Wishaw Road, south westwards on A71 Overtown Road, A71 Main Street and A71 Horsley Brae to the north east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the north east side of the closure wishing to travel to the south west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Local bus services may be affected.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

 

Phase 3

B7011 Brownlee Road from the extended line of the eastern kerb of A71 Horsley Brae, eastwards for a distance of 150 metres or thereby.

Alternative routes: vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing to travel to the west side of the closure should proceed eastwards on B7011 Brownlee Road, north eastwards on B7011 Station Road and B7011 Wildman Road, north westwards on A73, westwards on A721 Wishaw Road, south westwards on A71 Overtown Road, A71 Main Street and A71 Horsley Brae to the west side of the closure.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure wishing to travel to the east side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Local bus services may be affected.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

These works will be carried out as part of a rolling programme with no two closures taking place at the same time.

Appropriate signage will be in place advising drivers of the restrictions during each closure associated with the works. Each closure will be effective only when appropriate signage is in place.

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Saturday, 26 January 2019 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Sunday, 27 January 2019 and every subsequent Saturday and Sunday until Sunday, 17 February 2019.
