On 17 June 2013 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on bridge works) on Cardowan Road, Stepps from the extended line of the southern kerb of Cardowan Drive to the extended line of the northern kerb of Garnkirk Lane, by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the north west side of the closure wishing to access the south east side of the closure should proceed north westwards on Cardowan Road, north eastwards on A80 Cumbernauld Road, south eastwards and southwards on Dewar Road and north westwards on Kilpatrick Drive and Cardowan Road to the south east side of the closure.

Vehicles on the south east side of the closure wishing to access the north west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times via a temporary footbridge.


The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 8 July 2013 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Monday, 31 March 2014.
