TAXI OPERATORS WANTED IN EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE
East Dunbartonshire Council is now accepting applications for Taxi Operator Licences. A Taxi Operator Licence is the licence required for the operation of a vehicle as a taxi in the East Dunbartonshire area.
On 30 September 2019, a cap was introduced on the number of taxi operator licences issued by the Council. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of licences in East Dunbartonshire has fallen below the cap. The Council is now inviting applications for a Taxi Operator Licence. The application period will be open until 31 October 2022 unless the cap is reached earlier at which stage the application period will close. There are around 90 licences available.
During this application period, applications will be taken on a first come first served basis (based on a completed application) and applicants can make applications for up to two operator licences only. This is to ensure that the opportunity is open to all.
In order to support new applicants, the Council will relax a number of the requirements for new applications for a temporary period. In particular, applicants do not require complete the purchase of a vehicle until confirmation that a licence will be granted. This means that you do not have to purchase a vehicle before applying, however you will have to provide details of the make and model of vehicle you intend to licence to ensure that it is permitted. You will need to provide full details of the vehicle, including appropriate ownership papers, prior to the licence being granted and plates issued.
Applications received after the cap has been reached will be added to the Council’s waiting list. The application itself will not be processed and any application fee will be refunded.
