On 23/11/21 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order, which will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any length of roads stated below, by reason of facilitating Victoria Bridge works to be executed on or near the roads.
The Order shall come into force at 06:00 hrs on 06/01/22 until 18:00 hrs on 13/05/22, or until the works are completed whichever is earlier and the Order will be implemented only when appropriate signs are displayed.
It is anticipated at this time that the works will be undertaken in phases and advance signing will be erected on site to inform the traveling public of the times and dates of each road closure. Every effort will be made to keep the closures to a minimum but dates may need to change as works progress because the works are weather dependent.
Anticipated Phasing
PHASE 1 (06:00 hrs on 06/01/22 until 24:00 hrs on 10/03/22)
New Mill Rd – From its junction with Welbeck St eastwards for 30m.
Alternative Routes: Vehicles should proceed via Welbeck St, Old Mill Rd, Fowlds St, King St, St. Marnock St, John Finnie St, West George St, Portland St, Green St, London Rd, Samson Av, MacKinlay Pl and Nursery Av, OR via Nursery Av, London Rd, Green St, Sturrock St, Old Mill Rd and Welbeck St.
PHASE 2 (00:01 hrs on 11/03/22 until 24:00 hrs on 22/04/22)
Lawson St – From its junction with Welbeck St westwards for 25m.
Alternative Routes: Vehicles should proceed via Welbeck St, Old Mill Rd, Armour St, East Shaw St, Bentinck St, Brewery Rd and Lawson St and vice versa.
PHASE 3 (00:01 hrs on 25/04/22 until 24:00 hrs on 29/04/22)
Route A735 Welbeck St/Queen’s Dr – From its junction with New Mill Rd/Lawson St to its junction with Victoria East Rd.
Alternative Routes: Vehicles should proceed via Welbeck St, Old Mill Rd, Armour St, High Glencairn St, Low Glencairn St, Campbell St, Hurlford Rd and Queen’s Dr and vice versa, OR via Lawson St, Brewery Rd, Bentinck St, East Shaw St, High Glencairn St, Low Glencairn St, Campbell St, Hurlford Rd and Queen’s Dr.
The only exempt vehicles will be those engaged in the contracted works on Victoria Bridge.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure period.
