On Monday 9th December 2019 Argyll and Bute Council made the above named Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on that length of the RAF Machrihanish Road (Unclassified No. 059) which extends from its junction with the Machrihanish Business Park Access Road to its junction with the A83 Tarbet – Lochgilphead – Campbeltown Trunk Road.

This restriction is required because of the likelihood of danger to the public whilst wind turbine components are being transported from CS Wind at Machrihanish Business Park to Campbeltown Harbour. The prohibition will be in operation from 0001 hours on Monday 16th December 2019 until 2359 hours on Sunday 22nd December 2019 and from 0001 hours on Monday 6th January 2020 to 2359 hours on Sunday 5th July 2020 or until the prohibition is no longer required, whichever is the earliest. The restriction will only have effect when indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

Exceptions will apply to any vehicle which is:

  1. being driven for the purpose of the wind turbine transportations;

  2. being driven at the direction, or with the permission of, a police officer in uniform.
