Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

THE ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL (GREYHOPE ROAD, ABERDEEN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) (NO.2) ORDER 2024
Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the order, which will come into operation from 00:01 on 12 March 2024, for a period up to eighteen months, is to impose the following traffic management measures on Greyhope Road, Aberdeen: -
A 20mph speed limit.
A prohibition on motor vehicles stopping.
A prohibition on motor vehicles (except for permitted access), from its northern junction with St Fitticks Road, eastwards for a distance of 745 metres or thereby, with an associated one-way restriction that restricts permitted motor vehicles to travelling in a westbound direction only.
A Pedestrian and Cycle Zone, except for motor vehicles up to 3T displaying a disabled persons badge (the Blue Badge), or goods vehicles weighing up to 7.5T, or authorised vehicles, from a point 705 metres or thereby west of its junction with the vehicle access that serves Girdle Ness Lighthouse, westwards for a distance of 125 meters or thereby.
A prohibition on motor vehicles weighing over 3T, except for loading by goods vehicles weighing up to 7.5T, or authorised vehicles, from its junction with the vehicle access that serves Girdle Ness Lighthouse, westwards for a distance of 705 metres or thereby.
The measures are necessary to protect the structure of Greyhope Road by limiting the volume and weight of vehicles on sections adjacent to coastal embankment that have been assessed to be weak. Accordingly, the measures are also in the interest of public safety.
