Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The effect of the order, which will come into operation from 00:01 on 25 August 2018, until 23:59 on 24 August, 2019, is to impose a prohibition on motor vehicles driving on the lengths of Queen Street and Poultry Market Lane, Aberdeen, specified in the schedule below, albeit an exemption is provided for motor vehicles being driven to take legitimate access to premises adjacent to or served by those lengths of road.

The application of the order will only be utilised at times where a a public event is taking place that necessitates the closure of Broad Street, Aberdeen, to vehicles between its junctions with Union Street and Queen Street. It therefore ensures motor vehicle access is maintained to the Police Scotland North East of Scotland Divisional Headquarters which are located on Queen Street. Accordingly, the prohibition (No entry) that usually prevents vehicular access to Queen Street from West North Street is temporarily suspended when this order is utilised.
