THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL
(BORDERS FESTIVALS – HAWICK COMMON RIDING)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2024
The Scottish Borders Council are making the above Order under 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16A(6), Section 16B(1)(b) and Section 16B(6)(b) of the said Act. The Order which has a maximum duration of thirty-two days, shall be in effect on 8, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28 and 30 May 2024 and 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 June 2024. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of relevant events related to Hawick Common Riding 2024.
When the Order comes into effect:
no person shall (i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle, and (ii) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked, along those lengths of road and in those car parks on the dates and at the times specified in the Schedule below;
One Way Orders will be in effect in the directions specified on the following roads on 7 June 2024 between the hours of 09:00 and 16:15 and 8 June 2024 between the hours of 09:00 and 15:15:
(i) Haggis Ha Brae – southbound,
(ii) the D24/3 from Haggis Ha Brae to St Leonards – southbound,
(iii) the D23/3 from St Leonards to the B6399 – eastbound; and
a 30mph speed limit will be in force on 21 May 2024 between the hours of 14:00 and 15:30 on the A7 at Groundistone Heights from a point 135 metres south of the access road to the mast to a point 865 metres north of the same access road;
a 30mph speed limit will be in force on 25 May 2024 between the hours of 14:00 and 17:30 on the A7 at Mosspaul from a point 500 metres south of Mosspaul Hotel to a point 500 metres north of the Mosspaul Hotel; and
a 30 mph speed limit will be in force on 1 June 2024 between the hours of 12:30 and 16:00 on the A6088 from the D63/3 Hawthornside to the C28.
