South Lanarkshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and of all other enabling powers, has made the following Order:-
This Order may be cited as “South Lanarkshire Council, A726 Strathaven Road/Greenhills Road, East Kilbride (Temporary Road Closure) Order No. 1 2021” and shall come into operation between 0000 hours 27 November 2021 to 2359 hours 5 December 2021. The restrictions will be applied on site by the display of traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
Whilst this order remains in force no person shall park, drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on the sections of road specified in Schedule 1 and 2 with the exception of by reason of works connected with the ongoing Greenhills Road City Deal improvements, public service buses or emergency vehicles.
Schedule 1 – A726 Strathaven Road, East Kilbride
A726 Strathaven Road will be closed between entrance to Carrigan’s Eating House, East Kilbride and 100 metres south of Torrance Roundabout.
Alternative Route
Traffic will be diverted via A726 Strathaven Road, A725 East Kilbride Kingsway/Expressway, Main Street, High Blantyre Road, A724/A72 to Hamilton, A723 to Strathaven, A726 to East Kilbride and vice versa.
Schedule 2 – Greenhills Road, East Kilbride
Greenhills Road will be closed between A726 Strathaven Road and Hurlawcrook Road.
Alternative Route
Traffic will be diverted via A726 Strathaven Road, High Common Road, Stroud Road, Singer Road, Greenhills Road and vice versa.
