On 6 January 2021 South Lanarkshire Council made the above named Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which makes it unlawful for any person, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, to cause or permit any vehicle to drive at a speed exceeding 20 miles per hour on the lengths of roads detailed below:-

Bannatyne Street, Lanark, both directions – from a point 106 metres north of the extended north kerbline of Whitelees Road, north-westwards to its junctions with High Street, a distance of 228 metres or thereby.

Bloomgate, Lanark, both directions – from a point 3 metres north-west of the extended south-east kerbline of Friars Lane, south-eastwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of 148 metres or thereby.

Broomgate, Lanark, both directions – from the extended south kerbline of Bloomgate, southwards to a point 4 metres north of the extended north-east kerbline of Market End, a distance of 49 metres or thereby.

Castlegate, Lanark, both directions – from the extended south kerbline of High Street, southwards for a distance of 52 metres or thereby.

Friars Lane, Lanark, both directions – from the extended south-west kerbline of Bloomgate, southwestwards for a distance of 17 metres or thereby.

Gallowhill Road, Lanark, both directions – from a point 124 metres west of the extended west kerbline of Kildare Road, north-westwards for a distance of 82 metres or thereby.

Hall Place, Lanark, both directions – full length, a distance of 124 metres or thereby.

High Street, Lanark, both directions – from a point 26 metres west of the extended west kerbline of Wellgate, eastwards to its junction with St. Leonard Street, a distance of 278 metres or thereby.

Hope Street, Lanark, both directions – from the extended north kerbline of Bloomgate, northwards to a point 6 metres south of the extended south kerbline of North Vennel, a distance of 54 metres or thereby.

Hyndford Place, Lanark, both directions – full length, a distance of 32 metres or thereby.

Kildare Road, Lanark, both directions – from the extended north-west kerbline of St. Leonard Street, north-westwards and northwards to a point 16 metres south of the extended south kerbline of Kildare Place, a distance of 74 metres or thereby.

St. Leonard Street, Lanark, both directions – from a point 55 metres north-east of the extended north-east kerbline of Kildare Road, south-westwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of 195 metres or thereby.

St. Vincent Place, Lanark, both directions – from a point 27 metres north of the extended north kerbline of Whitelees Road, northwards and north-westwards to its junctions with Bannatyne Street, a distance of 79 metres or thereby.

Wellgate, Lanark, both directions – from a point 30 metres north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Bernards Court, north-westwards to its junction with High Street, a distance of 100 metres or thereby.

Westport, Lanark, both directions - from a point 3 metres south-east of the extended north-west kerbline of Friars Lane, north-eastwards to a point 76 metres south-east of the extended south-east kerbline of Whitehill Crescent, a distance of 181 metres or thereby.

Woodstock Road, Lanark, both directions – from the extended north-east kerbline of Bannatyne Street, north-eastwards to a point 12 metres south-west of the extended south-west kerbline of Thomas Taylor Avenue, a distance of 67 metres or thereby. This Order has been made because of the likelihood of danger to the public, i.e. for reasons of road safety.

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on 3 February 2021 and will remain in operation until 2400 hours on 3 August 2022.
