On 4 March 2024 the Council, in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (South Ayrshire Council) Designation Order 2012 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order, which will make it unlawful for a Motor Caravan to wait on any of the lengths of road below between 9:00pm to 9:00am from 1 April to 30 September 2024.

The Order is in force from 00:01 hours on Monday 1 April 2024 and will remain in force until 23:59 hours on Tuesday 30 September 2024. The restrictions will only be in force when necessary and when “Authorised Sign R” traffic signs in accordance with diagram 636 of the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 as amended, are displayed in any of the lengths of road.

The restrictions will help avoid a likelihood of danger to the public following concerns and associated health and safety issues raised as a result of the unregulated use of South Ayrshire Council car parks and on-street shore front locations by visitors using campervan style vehicles for overnight and long stay parking.
