Experimental (Amendments) Order 2023
South Ayrshire Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended, hereby make the following Order :-
Part I
General
Citation and commencement
This Order may be cited as the “South Ayrshire Council (Ayr Town Centre) (Parking Places) Order 2014 Experimental (Amendment) Order 2023” and shall come into operation on 06/11/2023 for a period not exceeding 18 months.
Interpretation
to them—
“the 1984 Act” means the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984;
“Council” means South Ayrshire Council;
“Principal Order” means the South Ayrshire Council (Ayr Town Centre) (Parking Places) Order 2014.
“Schedule” means Schedule 1 annexed to this Order and which forms part of this Order;
“VRM” means Vehicle Registration Mark.
“Parking receipt” means a receipt obtained from a parking ticket machine.
c) A reference in this Order to a numbered Article or Schedule is a reference to the Article or Schedule bearing that number in this Order.

ORDER TO BE AMENDED
Title of Order
South Ayrshire Council (Ayr Town Centre) (Parking Places) Order 2014.
Extent of Amendment
26. Payment of parking charge in parking places controlled by parking ticket machines
i) in the case of a free parking charge the pressing of the issue button or
ii) the insertion of coins or bank notes of legal denomination or
iii) a credit or debit card of a type accepted by the Parking Ticket Machine or
iv) any other method of payment authorised by the Council for the payment of a Parking Charge, including but not limited to, a parking card or telephone payment.
(f) The driver of a vehicle shall be entitled to one free parking session per day up to a maximum duration of 2 hours.
Extent of Amendment
27a. Indications of the VRM by parking tickets
Prior to the payment of the parking charge for a vehicle left in a parking place, the driver of the vehicle shall input the relevant VRM into the Parking Ticket Machine or other method of payment. The VRM or part thereof shall prove the validity of the payment of the parking charge for the driver’s vehicle and be indicated on the parking receipt.
