On 03/02/22 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (South Ayrshire Council) Designation Order 2012 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order
This will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 20mph or to load or unload during the days and times specified below for the reason of maintaining road safety in the vicinity of the side entrance to the new Ayr Grammar Primary.
The Order will extend the existing 20mph speed limit on South Harbour Street - from the Citadel entrance, eastwards to a point just west of Fort Street, a distance of 225 metres or thereby. Emergency Services vehicles will not be affected.
In addition the existing No Loading / Unloading at school times’ restrictions in Fort Street will be extended to also apply to the existing double yellow line restrictions in South Harbour Street. No Loading / Unloading 8:30am-9:15am & 2:30pm-3:45pm Monday – Friday
South Harbour Street
- North side: From 30 metres west of Fort Street, westwards to the underground vehicle access to Churchill Tower.
- South side: From Nos.29/31 South Harbour Street, north-westwards for 44 metres; From 12 metres east of the Citadel Leisure Centre access road westwards for 81 metres; From 16 metres east of Nos.71-105 South Harbour Street, westwards for 41 metres; and From 18 metres east of South Beach Road (north leg), westwards for 33 metres.
The Order is in force from 00:01 hours on Monday 14th February and will last for a period of 18 months, or until a permanent Order is made, whichever is earlier.
