THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL

(BORDERS FESTIVALS – GALASHIELS)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) NO 2 ORDER 2023

The Scottish Borders Council are making the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16A(6) and Section 16B(1)(b) of the said Act. The Order, which has a maximum duration of forty-four days, shall be in effect on 19 and 26 May, 18, 26 and 28 June and 1 July 2023 as specified in the Schedule below. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of relevant events related to Galashiels Braw Lads Gathering 2023. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

When the Order comes into effect:

1. no person shall (i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle, and (ii) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked, along those lengths of road on the dates and at the times detailed in the Schedule to this Order;

2. One Way Orders in an easterly direction will be in force on Paton Street (from Market Street to the Tesco exit) as follows:

1. between the hours of 18:30 and 21:00 on 19 May 2023; and

2. between the hours of 19:45 and 20:30 on 28 June and 1 July 2023;

No person shall drive in a westerly direction;

3. The Scottish Borders Council (The Borders Regional Council) (Various Streets, Galashiels) (Regulation of Traffic) Order 1990 (as amended) will be further amended as follows: the One Way Orders on the following streets will be reversed between the hours of 11:45 and 12:30 on 1 July 2023:

1. Market Street – from its junction with Stirling Street to its junction with Channel Street;

2. Stirling Street – from its junction with the supermarket car park to its junction with Market Street
