(EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2023

The Scottish Borders Council made the above Order on 25 April 2023 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended. The Order will be experimental and will remain initially in operation for a period of no less than six months.

The effect of the Order, which comes into operation on 1 May 2023, will be to prohibit motor vehicles waiting at any time in a length of Flass Road (adjacent to Westruther Primary School), Westruther in the interests of road safety and traffic management.

A copy of the Experimental Order as made, together with a map showing said length of road and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the Experimental Order may be examined at Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council’s Library Contact Centre, 49 Newtown Street, Duns TD11 3AU during normal working hours.

The Scottish Borders Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be made permanent. Any person wishing to object to the making of a permanent Order should send details of the grounds of objection in writing to the Acting Chief Officer, Corporate Governance, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, TD6 0SA by 31 October 2023.
