(VARIOUS ROADS - SECURE CHIP RESURFACING)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER 2022

 

The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads - Secure Chip Resurfacing) (Temporary Closing) Order 2022 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.  The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 8 August 2022 and is expected to remain in effect until 12 August 2022 as detailed below. The closures will only come into effect when appropriate traffic signs are displayed on the affected lengths of road. The Order is required for secure chip resurfacing works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the following roads in the Scottish Borders on the dates and at the times specified:  

(a)   Closure 1: from 08:30 on 8 August to 17:00 on 10 August 2022 – A6112 Main Street, Swinton. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the A6112, B6461, A697 and A6112 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing;

(b)   Closure 2: from 08:30 on 8 August to 17:00 on 10 August 2022 - Tweed Road and Winston Road, Galashiels. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via Tweed Road, Abbotsford Road, Braw Lads Brae, George Craig Bridge, Currie Road, Melrose Road and Winston Road to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing;

(c)   Closure 3: from 08:30 on 9 August to 17:00 on 11 August 2022 – B6400 from Monteviot to Nisbet. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B6400, A68, A698 and B6400 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing;

(d)   Closure 4: from 08:30 on 10 August to 17:00 on 12 August 2022 – B711 west of Roberton. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B711, B709, B7009, A707, A7 and B711 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing; and

(e)   Closure 5: from 08:30 on 10 August to 17:00 on 12 August 2022 – B7009 at Carterhaugh. The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B7009, B709, A708, B7039 and B7009 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Each closure will last approximately half a day to permit the treatment to be applied. As this is weather dependent, each closure will have a three day window. Closure 4 will be completed before Closure 5 commences.
