(VARIOUS ROADS – SPACES FOR PEOPLE)
(TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTION) NO 2 ORDER 2021
The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads – Spaces for People) (Temporary Speed Restriction) No 2 Order 2021 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 00:01 on 24 May 2021 and is expected to remain in effect until 23:59 on 4 April 2022. The Order is required for the Spaces for People initiative to make the lengths of road safer for cyclists and walkers.
When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle:
(a) at a speed exceeding 30mph along the length of those roads in the Scottish Borders detailed in Schedule I below; and
(b) at a speed exceeding 40mph along the A6105 in Foulden from Aldertree Cottage eastwards for 1220 metres.
The temporary speed restrictions will only be in effect when appropriate signage is in place on the affected lengths of road.
The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads – Spaces for People) (Temporary Speed Restriction) No 2 Order 2020 made on 28 September 2020 will be revoked only where it relates to the roads detailed in Schedule I to the above Order and paragraph (b) above.

C131 Harbour Link Road, Eyemouth – from Gunsgreen Roundabout to New Harbour
A6105 Foulden – from Aldertree Cottage westwards for 475 metres
Stow Road, Lauder – from a point 15 metres west of Upper Loan Park westwards for 295 metres
Oxnam Road, Jedburgh – from a point 330 metres west of Rowan Road to a point 145 metres east of Rowan Road
Liddesdale Road, Hawick – from a point 20 metres north of Liddesdale Crescent to a point 70 metres south of Whitlaw Gardens
Weensland Road, Hawick – from a point 15 metres east of Heronhill Close, eastwards for 770 metres.
