(VARIOUS ROADS, HAWICK)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2021

The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads, Hawick) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2021 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 6:00 on 15 February 2021 and is expected to remain in effect until 18:00 on 31 October 2021 as detailed below. The Order is required for Hawick Flood Protection Scheme works.

When the Order comes into effect:

1. a One Way Order will be in force in a northerly direction on Commercial Road, Hawick from the Borders Distillery to the Aldi car park entrance from 06:00 on 15 February to 18:00 on 4 May 2021. No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle in a southerly direction;
2. a One Way Order will be in force in a westerly direction on Bath Street, Hawick from Commercial Road to the rear entrance to Sainsbury’s from 06:00 on 15 February to 18:00 on 31 October 2021.
3. no person shall walk or cycle on Victoria Bridge, Hawick from Commercial Road to the Under Haugh footpath from 06:00 on 15 February to 18:00 on 9 August 2021. The alternative eastbound pedestrian and cycle route is via Commercial Road, James Thomson Bridge and Teviot Road to the point of closure, the eastbound route is the reverse of the foregoing; and
4. no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along Commercial Road, Hawick from the entrance to Sainsbury’s car park to North Bridge from 06:00 on 4 May to 18:00 on 31 October 2021. The alternative route for southbound traffic is via Mart Street, Bourtree Place, High Street, Tower Knowe, Sandbed, Albert Road and Commercial Road to the point of closure. For northbound traffic via Commercial Road, Albert Road, Wilton Path, Princes Street and the A7 to the point of closure.
