(VARIOUS ROADS – SPACES FOR PEOPLE)

(TEMPORARY SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2020

 

The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads – Spaces for People) (Temporary Speed Restriction) Order 2020 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.  The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 00:01 on 31 August 2020 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of 18 months. The temporary speed restriction will only be in effect when appropriate signage is in place on the appropriate lengths of road.  The Order is required for the Spaces for People initiative to make the lengths of road safer for cyclists and walkers.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle at a speed exceeding 40mph along the following roads in the Scottish Borders:

(a)   Lauder to Earlston:

C76 from Lauder to Earlston – from its junction with the A68 south of Lauder to its junction with the A68 south of Earlston;

(b)   Peebles to Ashiestiel:

  1. B7062 - Peebles to Traquair – from Peebles 30mph limit to its junction with the B709 at Traquair;
  2. B709 - Traquair to Innerleithen – from its junction with the B7062 to its junction with the  D83-1;
  3. D83-1 – Innerleithen to Scrogbank – from its junction with the B709 to its junction with the D83/2;
  4. D83/2 – Scrogbank to A707 – from its junction with the D83-1 to its junction with the A707;

(c)   Heriot to Clovenfords:

C11 Heriot to Clovenfords – from its junction with the B709 to its junction with the B710.
