The Scottish Borders Council (High Road, Melrose) (Temporary Closing) Order 2020 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 16 January 2020 and is expected to remain in effect until 22 January 2020 between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 each day on weekdays only. The road will be open over the weekend of 18 and 19 January 2020. The Order is required for resurfacing works.
When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along High Road, Galashiels. Access to and egress from the Priorwood car park will not be permitted for the duration of the closures.
The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via High Street, the B6374, B6360, A6091 and B6374 to the point of closure. For westbound traffic via the B6374, A6091, B6360, B6374, High Street, Buccleuch Street and Abbey Street to the point of closure.
Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained with minor delays.
