(PEEBLES CHRISTMAS LIGHTS)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2018

 

The Scottish Borders Council have made the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of the Scottish Ministers under Section 16B(6)(b) of the said Act. The Order, which has a maximum duration of one day, will come into force at 12:00 on 6 December 2018 and is expected to remain in effect until 22:30. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the switching on of the Peebles Christmas Lights and associated events. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall:

  1. permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked along High Street, Peebles from the traffic lights to the Bank of Scotland build-out between the hours of 12:00 and 22:30;
  2. drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the following streets in Peebles:
  1. High Street from the traffic lights to Tweed Bridge, between the hours of 16:00 and 22:30;
  2. Eastgate from Tweed Brae to the High Street and High Street from Eastgate to the traffic lights between the hours of 18:00 and 22:30.

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the Old Town, Young Street, Rosetta Road, March Street and the A703 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic via the A703, March Street, Cross Street, Elcho Street Brae and the Old Town to the point of closure.
