(TOUR O’ THE BORDERS CYCLE EVENT)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2018

 

The Scottish Borders Council are making the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, with the consent of Scottish Ministers under Section 16B(6)(b) of the said Act. The Order, which has a maximum duration of two days, will come into force at 18:00 on 1 September 2018 and is expected to remain in effect until 16:00 on 2 September 2018. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the Tour O’ the Borders 2018 Cycle Event.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall:

  1. permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked along those lengths of road on the dates and at the times specified in Schedule I to this Order;
  2. drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along those lengths of road on the date and at the times specified in Schedule II to this Order; and
  3. ride, or cause or permit to be ridden any cycle, or ride, lead or drive any animal along those lengths of road on the date and at the times specified in of Schedule II to this Order.

Alternative Route

For all traffic south of the River Tweed and east of the above closed roads, access to the A72 will be via the B7062 and the B7088

For all traffic south of the River Tweed and west of the above closed roads, access to the A72 will be via Caledonian Road and Tweed Bridge

Access and egress for residents will only be available between the hours of 12:45 and 14:30

Local diversions will be in place for:

Residents of the Cademuir Drive and Kingsmuir Crescent areas

Residents of the Cavalry Park and Whitehaugh Park areas

 

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

 

Local diversions will be in place throughout the day, however access and egress for residents within the closed sections of road will be restricted for some considerable time during the day between the hours of 06:00 and 16:00. Marshalls will be positioned at each closure point and will be able to advise on road opening times and alternative routes.

 

Access to all closed roads will be maintained for the Emergency Services.
