THE SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL

(BORDERS FESTIVAL - MELROSE)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) NO 1 ORDER 2018

 

The Scottish Borders Council have made the above Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of one day, will come into force at 19:00 on 4 May 2018 and is expected to remain in effect until 20:30. The Order is required to facilitate the holding of a relevant event, being the Melrose Festival Appointment Night.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall:

  1. drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along Market Square and High Street, from The Square to its junction with Buccleuch Street, Melrose, between the hours of 19:45 and 20:15. This closure will come into effect only at such times as instructed by a police officer in uniform and/or appropriate traffic signs are displayed on the affected lengths of road; and
  2. permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked in the Market Square, Melrose between the hours of 19:00 and 20:30.

The alternative routes are as follows:

Westbound from East Port - east on East Port and High Road, west on the A6091(T) Melrose Bypass and east on the B6374 to point of closure

Eastbound from High Street - west on the B6374 High Street, east on the A6091(T) Melrose Bypass and west on High Road and East Port to point of closure. 

Eastbound from Dingleton Road – east on Scott’s Place

Westbound from Dingleton Road – east on Scott’s Place and High Road, west on the A6091(T) Melrose Bypass and east on the B6374 to point of closure

Pedestrian access will be maintained.
