On 22 December 2017 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on Scottish Water Infrastructure Works) on Swinstie Road, Cleland from the extended line of the eastern kerb of Wishaw High Road eastwards to the extended line of the western kerb of Sewage Works Access Road by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative Routes: Vehicles on the east side of the closure wishing to travel to the west side of the closure should proceed north eastwards on Swinstie Road, north westwards on Spindleside Road, westwards on B7029 Bellside Road, south westwards on B7029 Main Street, south westwards on Main Street then south eastwards on Wishaw High Road to the west side of the closure.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure should proceed vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, by arrangement with the contractor during the closure.

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 8 January 2018 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Friday, 21 September 2018.
