On 30 October 2017 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on essential bridge maintenance works) on Thorn Road, Bellshill from its junction with Dean Street southwards for a distance of 125 metres or thereby by reason of works being executed on or near that location.
Alternative Routes: Vehicles on the north side of the closure wishing to travel to the south side of the closure should proceed northwards on Thorn Road, westwards on Main Street, north eastwards on A721 North Road, westwards on A721 Gartcosh Walk, southwards on A725 Bellshill Bypass, north eastwards on B7070 Hamilton Road, south eastwards on Cross Gates, north eastwards on Belvidere Road then eastwards on Noble Road to the south side of the closure.
Vehicles on the south side of the closure wishing to travel to the north side of the north side of the closure should proceed westwards on Noble Road, south westwards on Belvidere Road, north westwards on Cross Gates, south westwards on B7070 Hamilton Road, northwards on A725 Bellshill Bypass, eastwards on A721 Gartcosh Walk and A775 Campbell Street, westwards on Main Street then southwards on Thorn Road to the north side of the closure.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.
The Order will be operational between 2200 hours and 0600 hours each day, from 2200 hours on Saturday, 18 November 2017 and will remain in operation until 0600 hours on Friday, 24 November 2017.
