On 14 June 2017 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle on Academy Street, Coatbridge from its junction with Main Street, northwards, for a distance of 30 metres or thereby by reason of public safety. 

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the north side of the closure wishing to travel to the south side of the closure should proceed northwards on Academy Street, north eastwards on Baird Street, southwards on Church Street and westwards on Main Street to the south side of the closure. 

Vehicles on the south side of the closure wishing to travel to the north side of the closure should proceed vice versa. 

Pedestrian access will be maintained on the western footpath of Academy Street only. 

Notwithstanding the foregoing provision any vehicles associated with any emergency and/or essential maintenance works will be permitted use of the aforementioned section of road. 

The Order will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 26 June 2017 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Wednesday, 26 December 2018.
