James Reid School 28 September 2016 7pm
Stanecastle School 29 September 2016 2pm
Haysholm School 29 September 2016 7pm

The meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss the proposal and hear the views of the wider community.

In line with the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 (as amended), North Ayrshire Council proposes that:

A new Additional Support Needs School (ASN) be built at a site adjacent to Auchenharvie Academy, Saltcoats Road, Stevenston. The new school will provide high quality education and care for children and young people aged 2-18 years.  This proposal will result in the closure and amalgamation of the following schools:

  • Haysholm School, Irvine;
  • James McFarlane School, Ardrossan;
  • James Reid School, Saltcoats;
  • Stanecastle School, Irvine

Stanecastle Early Years class is also proposed for closure.  This will result in new, purpose built early years provision at Annick Primary School, which is located immediately behind Stanecastle School.

A report outlining the background and benefits of these proposals will be issued to all parents/carers and interested parties. Copies of this document are available from Education and Youth Employment, 5th Floor, Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE.  The document can also be viewed in all public libraries in North Ayrshire and on the North Ayrshire Council website, www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk.

All interested parties are invited to make written submissions on the proposal to the Executive Director (Education and Youth Employment), Cunninghame House, Irvine KA12 8EE or by email to:  educ_consultation@north-ayrshire.gov.uk no later than 12noon on 4 November 2016.
