The Midlothian Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is that for a temporary period to allow for road works associated with adjacent housing developments, Newton Church Road from its junction with Edmonstone Road to its junction with Millerhill Roadwill be closed to through traffic. The Order which has a maximum duration of 18 months has effect from 17 April 2017 and it is expected that the work will take about 35 weeks to complete. Pedestrian access will be maintained. Alternative routes for general vehicular traffic will be via A6106 Millerhill Road, Shawfair Avenue and A7 Old Dalkeith Road.
