The Midlothian Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 14(1) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Constable hereby make the following temporary Order:

This Order may be cited as The Midlothian Council (B704 Dalhousie Bridge) (Exemption from Weight Limit) Order 2014 and shall come into operation on 22 April 2014.

Whereas Clause 3 of The Midlothian Council (Dalhousie Bridge, Midlothian) (Weight Restriction) Order 2000 (hereinafter referred to as the "2000 Order") provides that the vehicles excepted from the 2000 Order are vehicles utilised by the police, fire and ambulance services in the course of their duties, gritting and snow clearing vehicles utilised by the local Roads Authority in the course of its duties and licensed public service vehicles. Midlothian Council refuse collection vehicles are also to be excepted from the 2000 Order.

The exemption is to allow the execution of refuse collection duties in the surrounding areas.

For the avoidance of doubt, the 2000 Order shall remain in full force and effect subject to the terms of this Order.
