(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2021

On the 26 May 2021 the Council made the above named Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will come into effect on Monday 7 June 2021 and will remain in operation for upto 18 months. The Order is considered necessary in the interests of safety for the following reasons:

Because of the likelihood of danger to the public and the increased risk to public health due to the current Coronavirus situation and resultant Government guidance with regards to social distancing, in relation to pedestrians using the road at peak periods when arriving to, or departing from the primary school located on or near the road.

The restriction imposed by the introduction of the School Street Order will prohibit unauthorised vehicular access to Academy Road over its full length, from its junction with St Catharine’s Road to Orchard Park, between 8:30am - 9:30am & 2:30pm - 3:30pm Monday to Friday during school terms.  Only vehicles displaying a valid permit issued by the Council will be authorised access to the road during the stated times.

The alternative route for restricted vehicles will be St Catharine’s Road - Fenwick Road.
