On 12th September  2023 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the Road Traffic (Permitted Parking Area and Special Parking Area) (East Ayrshire Council) Designation Order 2012 and the Road Traffic Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order to allow Carriageway Resurfacing

Temporary Road Closure – A70 Muirkirk Road, Lugar,  A70 from  Craigston Holm junction  for  800 metres to Lugar East Gateway 

No Waiting At Any Time - A70 Muirkirk Road, Lugar, for 800 metres both sides

Craigston Holm Waiting Restrictions 12 metres from its junction with A70 both sides of road 

The Order commences on 07 October 2023 and has a maximum duration of 18 months or until the works are completed, whichever is earlier. The works are expected to commence from 07 October 2023 at 08:00 until 22 October 2023 at 20:00

The road is will be  closed between 08:00 each Saturday until 20.00 each Sunday  for the duration of the works with it being open out-with these times or until the works are complete whatever is earlier.

The days and times of the works may be dependent upon the weather conditions but the Order will be implemented only when the appropriate signs are displayed.

Emergency Services access will not be affected.

During working hours, Residents within the affected area will be permitted access/egress when safe to do so and when directed by a Traffic Marshal, delays may be possible

An alternative route will be signed via A70, B743 via Sorn to Mauchline, A76, before re-joining the A70 at Cumnock and vice versa in both directions.
