On 20/08/19 the Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, made the above-named Order which will make it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 mph on Route A70 Muirkirk from the existing eastern most 30 mph terminal sign eastwards to the South Lanarkshire boundary near Glenbuck, a distance of 5.2 km or thereby. This restriction is required to maintain public safety and convenience during the holding of an event to celebrate the completion of the restoration work on the former opencast site at Glenbuck.
The Order is in force from 10:00 hrs until 17:00 hrs on 02/09/19 and will be implemented when appropriate signs are displayed.
