(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER)
ORDER 2021 Notice is hereby given that The Dumfries and Galloway Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
1. The general effect of the Traffic Regulation Order will be to impose a temporary 20mph speed limit on specified lengths of roads within Dumfries not already subject to a 20mph speed restriction and as indicated within the confines indicated by a solid black line on the plan below and in Schedule A.
2. The temporary speed limit is necessary to alleviate the likelihood of danger to the public caused by the potential conflict and collision between vehicles, pedal cycles and pedestrians on the roads stated by traffic travelling at speeds in excess of 20 miles per hour and pedestrians stepping off the footway onto the carriageway due to social distancing and the increase in pedestrian and pedal cycle traffic as a result of COVID-19.
3. The temporary 20mph speed limit will be in force within Dumfries from 00.00hrs, 12 March 2021 until 23.59hrs 11 September 2022 (18 months).
