The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close the High Street, between Queensberry Square and Bank Street, from 7am on 24/1/11 to 5.30pm on 15/4/11 to enable regeneration works to be carried out. The work will be carried out in 2 phases. Phase 1 (east side: approx 8 weeks) – large vehicles will be diverted along English Street, all other vehicles will be diverted along Bank Street and the one-way Order on High Street (north) will be temporarily suspended to allow access from Burns Statue area. Phase 2 (west/south side: approx 4 weeks) – no access available from High Street to Bank Street and the one-way Order on Bank Street will be temporarily suspended to allow access from Irish Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times around the site and access to properties on the route will be maintained.
