Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order in terms of its powers under Section 62(1) of the Roads Scotland Act 1984

One of the effects of the order, is to close Esplanade, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Kings Street and Beach Boulevard, Including the cycle lane, between 06:00 on 11 September 2021 until 23:59 on 12 September 2021. Vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain cycle race will be exempt. Also Links Road, Aberdeen, between its junctions Urquhart Road and the Beach Ballroom Roundabout. Blue badge holders and vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain cycle race will be exempt. Roads on the schedule below will be closed on 12 September, 2021 during the times listed. Many alternative routes are available.

The restrictions are in the interests of public safety during a cycling event by Aberdeen City Council.




From 18:00 on 11 September until 23:59 on 12 September 2021, there will also be a prohibition of waiting at any time on either side of the whole length of Esplanade, Aberdeen. This will include any parking areas on the footway between these junctions. Vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain Cycle Race will be exempt. Also on Links Road, Aberdeen, between its junction and Urquhart Road and the Beach Ballroom Roundabout. Blue badge holders and vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain Cycle Race will be exempt. During this time the existing width limit on the Esplanade, Aberdeen, between its junctions with King Street and the Beach Ballroom Roundabout, shall be suspended in respect of vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain event only. From 20:00 on 11 September 2021 until 16:00 on 12 September 2021, there will be a suspension of all waiting for any purpose on either side of Skene Street, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Carden Place and Woolmanhill Roundabout and on either side of Carden Place, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Queens Cross and Skene Street. Vehicles associated with the Tour of Britain Cycle Race will be exempt.
The no-waiting restrictions will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owners expense.
From 14:00 until 16:00 on 12 September 2021, the existing one-way restriction on Esplanade, Aberdeen at the junction with King Street and from 13:00 until 17:00 on 12 September 2021 the existing prohibition of right turn manoeuvres from A956, Ellon Road, Aberdeen onto Balgownie Road shall be temporarily suspended
