Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named orders in terms of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Section 62 (1) of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984, and respectively. The effect of the first order, which will operate from 00:01 on 1st May, 2017, until 23:59 on 12th November 2017, is to impose a temporary prohibition of driving on Broad Street, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Gallowgate and Queen Street. Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible. Also from 06:00 on 24th July, 2017 until 06:00 on 21st August, 2017, there will be a suspension of waiting for any purpose on either side of Queen Street, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Broad Street and a point 55 metres or thereby, north east of the junction with Broad Street. There will also be a temporary prohibition on all vehicles except for emergency vehicles, driving on that length of Queen Street, Aberdeen, from its junction with West North Street, southwards for a distance of 49 metres or thereby. These measures are necessary to protect public safety during carriageway and footway resurfacing works. The effect of the second order, which will operate from 00:00 on the 13th November 2017, until 23:59 on the 13th January, 2018, is to impose a temporary prohibition of driving on Broad Street, Aberdeen, between its junctions with Gallowgate and Queen Street. Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible. These measures are necessary to facilitate the Christmas Village. An alternative route for the first order is available via Castle Street, King Street, West North Street, Mounthooly Roundabout and Gallowgate. An alternative route for the second order is available via Castle Street, King Street, West North Street, Mounthooly Roundabout and Gallowgate.
