Dumfries and Galloway Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to temporarily close various roads as listed below.

 

The closure is necessary to facilitate activities associated with Langholm Common Riding.

 

The alternative routes are as follows

a)    Thursday – no alternative routes available. Minor delays should be expected for the duration of the parades. Emergency vehicle access will be available if required.

b)    Friday - via A7 at Hawick, A698, A6088 via Bonchester Bridge, B6357 to A7 at Canonbie and vice versa. Emergency vehicle access will be available if required.

 

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Common Riding Day (Friday 31st July 2015)

 

High Street/Market Place – various events / ceremonies involving periods of road closure.

08:15 to 22:00

Parade route - from Town Hall via High Street, Thomas Telford Road to the Buccleuch Centre round the Pump back via Thomas Telford Road, High Street to Ashley Bank, back via High Street to Town Hall.

08:30 to 09:00

Parade route – from Town Hall via High Street, Kirk Wynd and back via Kirk Wynd, High Street, Thomas Telford Bridge and back via High Street, Townfoot and back via Townfoot, High Street, Kirk Wynd, Drove Road, Barbrae, A7(T), U225a to Castleholm

09:45 to 10:00

Parade route – Kirk Wynd, High Street to Greenbank and back via High Street to Ashley Bank and back via High Street, Kirk Wynd, Drove Road, Barbrae to the Kilngreen.

10:15 to 12:00

Parade route – from Castleholm via U225a, A7(T), Townhead, High Street to Town Hall

20:30 to 21:00
